HURRICANE HOME READY / PRACTICAL GUIDANCE

Document your home before a hurricane

Build an accessible photo inventory and organize important documents before storm damage.

Create a room-by-room record

Take clear photographs or video of rooms, major possessions, serial numbers and exterior condition. Keep purchase records when available.

Keep an accessible backup

Store copies where you can retrieve them away from the property and without reliable internet. Avoid sharing identification documents or policy numbers in a public form.

If damage occurs

Document damage only when safe. Contact your insurer about reporting and coverage questions. Do not enter damaged structures or floodwater to collect photos. A referral request is not an insurance claim.
